ready for artfight! refsheet prep is done. Find Me On The Battlefield https://artfight.net/~lambchapel
put up kibble, a minimal, low-level game toolkit in rust. as a gamedev hobbyist (for now), i kind of always wanted a bare foundation that would let me build from scratch without worrying about portability... so this is that. i've been using it to put together an idea of mine and slowly polishing its api. here's the repo, but i wouldn't recommend using it yet since its api is subject to change
playing mina the hollower. such an inspiration! lovely modern retroslop. i think the bosses are Not Great but the main loop of exploring the world feels incredible! its difficulty level is just right for me. very jealous of its big pixel art cutscenes.
played deltarune chapter 5. life dream is to become tobyfox basically

updates! updates! i'm busy updating the site... my poor sickly victorian child. checked off the tunes and comics pages this month!
finished off my uni projects. check out my pico-8 game go fishin' and my little comic back n forth!
implementing the jummbox synth in rust. since i write most of my games' music in jummbox, for my loose game engine project, i thought it would be nice to be able to play jummbox songs back directly rather than have to manually export them as wav/mp3 and loop them.
another thought: since jummbox already stores songs as a compact string in the url, i could store songs in that compact format instead of in bulky audio files. i make pixel-art games, so audio is by far the biggest storage sink in my games -- even though it doesn't need to be because it's representable by tracker data anyway...
i've started implementing the jummbox synth in rust, using the original typescript as a reference. i've finished a json song loader, and now that i can load songs for testing, i've been working on the synth itself... which has been taking a while! translating the typescript directly would be one thing, but since it is so messy (sorry LOL) i've been reorganizing it as i go... which takes time.
playing some retroslop. picked up final fantasy origins and enjoying it. (girl who's only plauyed delatrune voice) its fun to play games that make up deltarune's dna and see all the stuff it references without my knowing... the opening cutscene is straight up deltarune it's awesome. my self-assigned mission is to play many old games and absorb their cool game design

bunch of new releases this month! i'm very happy.
ah... i missed that poppy sound and here it's clearer than ever. the production quality! hot girl shit
what a ride... i'm a fan of the hopecore csh's been putting out recently. i can't embed the track but go listen to "the ravenous house".
i enjoyed its more elaborate production. feels like a productive experiment.

working on a few variations on a game engine in rust. none of them will go anywhere hahah... but i've learned a lot about ffi binding in rust and about rust in general. lovely language.
watching a lot of lucid blocks. i'm deeply fascinated with this game. it's so visuals. it's so visuals. great to see godot representation.
its death sequence is so good. instant black screen, some time to process what just killed you, abstraction of heavenly clouds, awake again. gorge

feeling in tune with the spring.
painted shut by hop along. "i saw my twin" has been repeating in my mind for the longest time. i feel like writing up something about the parallels it makes to "waitress". perennial.
winnowing by forespi. stirring of the birds.
of new releases:
mettle by she's green, their new single. yes! yes! we'll make it out!
